Forest Schools

Forest school is a fully outdoor experience, offering pupils the chance to connect with nature, develop some new skills and to learn outside of a traditional classroom environment.

Not all children have access to a garden or a safe green space and (especially since the pandemic) this has become more of a focus for schools to prioritise spending time outside and the benefits this has to physical and mental wellbeing. Research also shows that some children who struggle in the classroom can thrive in this environment with improvements to behaviour, communication and motor skills.

Our forest school practitioner typically spends a day per week in school for 6 weeks (working with 2-4 small groups) and depending on the age group will build dens and swings, collect leaves, observe the wildlife, create some artwork, read stories and plant bulbs.
