Cooking & Enterprise

In recent years children’s obesity levels in Edmonton have been ranked as some of the worst in London and across the country.  The Edmonton Community Partnership, in association with local organisation Kinder Kitchen, is committed to working with local schools in order to empower children, helping them to make informed choices and giving them the skills required to eat and live healthily.

The cooking and enterprise project provided a platform to deliver a ‘healthy eating’ message without stigmatising individuals.

This message has been built into a programme that develops young entrepreneurs as teams of children design and produce their own healthy drink or snack and created marketing and pricing strategies, branding and logos, advertising materials etc. They go on to sell their product to the wider community on market stalls in Edmonton Green shopping centre in order to generate a profit and raise awareness around ‘healthy eating’.

Teams then pitch their healthy eating business ideas to a panel of Dragon’s Den judges at a project finale.  Here they discuss profit, health benefits, sales strategies etc. The best 3 pitches receive a cash investment for their enterprise project.
