Community – Supporting Each Other

Edmonton Community Partnership were approached by Oakthorpe School, part of our network of schools in Edmonton.  We were asked to help source some games, toys and equipment for their after-school club.

Yesterday we had the pleasure of meeting Marie Kyriacou-Edwards, Edmonton Green Shopping Centre Operations manager, and her fantastic team, who kindly arranged to buy some new toys, games and equipment after seeing our social media post requesting toy donations last week.

Maria Photi, project co-odinator from Edmonton Community Partnership and Judith Garrad, Headteacher from Oakthorpe School were there to receive these generous donations!

Marie Kyriacou-Edwards, Operations Manager at Edmonton Green Shopping Centre, said: “We are delighted to be able to support Edmonton Community Partnership on such a fantastic initiative.

“Many of our visitors will have children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews that attend the schools Maria and her team help to support and we know our donations for the after school clubs will mean a lot to the schools and families in Edmonton Green.”

“On behalf of Edmonton Community partnership, we would like to thank the management committee at Edmonton Green Shopping Centre for this kind donation to our community, during what has been a very difficult time for many families throughout the Covid-19 pandemic.  This generous gesture reiterates the meaning of community spirit and coming together as a community for the benefit of many of our children, young people and families.  Thank you!” Maria Photi, Project coordinator, Edmonton Community Partnership.

“The pupils and staff at Oakthorpe Primary School would like to thank the management committee at Edmonton Green Shopping Centre for their kind and generous donation.

The pupils who attend the after-school club will have endless fun playing with the toys and games.

Thank you very much”, Judith Garrad, Headteacher, Oakthorpe School.

It’s wonderful to see the ways that we support each other in our community, and we never fail to be amazed by the capacity for compassion and giving in Edmonton. Thank you to Edmonton Green Shopping Centre!
